A recent update to the HowNow Document Converter has changed the way documents are handled when printing to the program, it is now looking for a file name to associate automatically in HowNow rather than having to manually rename each document you print using the Document Converter.
This issue is most common when printing from MYOB, Handisoft & Xero, but is not limited to those programs.
To restore the previous naming convention and to resolve the Vista/No File Name error follow the steps below.
- Open Regedit from the Start Menu
Note: You may not have access to this if your IT Admin has restricted access to the registry, please have your IT follow these steps. - Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HowNow Document Converter
- Check that the TimeStamp data exists, if not, create the data using the values in the screenshot below.

- Double click OutputFile and add the following string to the end (Without quotes) “HNPDF_%TIMESTAMP%.PDF”
- Save the changes and try printing to HowNow Document Converter.
